Adrian Wojnarowski leaves ESPN to join new betting venture, BetMGM

BetMGM has bolstered its sports media team by signing Adrian Wojnarowski, who spent 11 years as an NBA Insider on ESPN.

The reigning NBA Executive of the Year and leading betting and gaming analysts will lead BetMGM's content strategy and expand the company's digital and social media presence.

As ESPN's NBA Insider, Wojnarowski's reporting on trades, free agency, injuries, and league news gave ESPN its highest traffic numbers, particularly on Twitter, and helped expand the company's subscriber base.

Wojnarowski has been named the NBA's Executive of the Year by the National Association of Basketball Executives for nine consecutive years and was promoted to Vice President of the NBA and ESPN in 2017.

Before joining ESPN in 2011, Wojnarowski worked for Yahoo Sports and also covered the NBA for The Record, the Bergen Record, and the Fresno Bee, earning him recognition as a 13-time New Jersey Sportswriter of the Year.

Terms of the deal, including its duration and financial details, were not immediately disclosed.

Wojnarowski's arrival at BetMGM coincides with the growing popularity of sports betting in the United States. According to a report by the American Gaming Association, 45.2 million Americans wagered $57.2 billion on sports in 2021, up from $29.3 billion in 2020.

BetMGM is a joint venture between MGM Resorts International and Entain Plc. The company operates more than 30 online sportsbooks and casinos in the United States.
