Vierling's RBI single breaks tie in the 7th

The Detroit Tigers secured a 5-2 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Friday night at Guaranteed Rate Field, extending their winning streak to three games.

The Tigers offense was led by Matt Vierling, who had two RBIs, including the game-winning hit in the seventh inning. Jeimer Candelario also had two hits and an RBI for Detroit.

The White Sox took an early lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Andrew Vaughn. However, the Tigers tied the game in the second inning on a sacrifice fly by Harold Castro.

The game remained tied until the seventh inning, when the Tigers took the lead for good. Vierling singled to right field, driving in Candelario from second base.

The Tigers added two more runs in the inning on a double by Miguel Cabrera and a single by Robbie Grossman.

Tigers starter Tarik Skubal pitched 5.1 innings, allowing two runs on six hits. He struck out seven batters and walked two.

Gregory Soto pitched the ninth inning for the Tigers, striking out two batters to earn his 26th save of the season.

With the win, the Tigers improve to 63-69 on the season. The White Sox fall to 70-62.
